AWS Transform Adds FSx for NetApp ONTAP to Unify Block Storage and Compute Migrations
NetApp and Amazon Web Services have announced the general availability of Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP as a direct migration target within AWS Transform. The integration enables enterprises to migrate attached block storage and mission-critical database volumes directly from on-premises SAN/NAS appliances and heterogeneous cloud providers into fully managed FSx for ONTAP instances. By incorporating storage replication directly into AWS Transform's automated engine, storage assets are now provisioned, synchronized, and cut over within the exact same migration wave that manages virtualized compute and software-defined network configurations.
Storage has long been the primary friction point during large-scale enterprise migrations. Traditional migration playbooks force infrastructure teams to decouple storage data transfers from compute rehosting, often requiring separate intermediate replication appliances, bespoke synchronization scripts, and protracted maintenance windows.
