Synology C2 Object Storage Transitions to Unified OneStorage Plan
Synology has announced a significant overhaul of its cloud storage offerings, moving its C2 Object Storage to a new, unified platform named C2 OneStorage, with the changes officially taking effect today, June 22, 2026. This strategic shift aims to streamline Synology's cloud services by integrating multiple cloud and hybrid storage solutions into a single, cohesive storage pool. The primary goal is to offer users a more simplified and efficient way to manage their data across different Synology C2 services.
Under the new model, customers looking to utilize Synology's object storage capabilities will now subscribe to C2 OneStorage. This means that standalone C2 Object Storage plans are no longer available for new users as of today. The transition also brings updated pricing and capacity tiers, which Synology states are designed to support ongoing development and introduce new features.
Existing paid subscribers will navigate a two-phase conversion process. The first phase, a transition period from June 22, 2026, to December 22, 2026, allows users to renew their current legacy plans. However, any modifications to storage capacity during this period will necessitate an immediate conversion to a C2 OneStorage plan. Synology has indicated that users converting to an equivalent storage capacity will not incur price differences during this initial phase, while upgrades will be charged accordingly. The second phase, commencing after December 22, 2026, will see all remaining legacy plans with auto-renewal automatically converted to C2 OneStorage.
For users on the free C2 Object Storage plan, the service will continue until June 22, 2027. After this date, these free subscriptions will be terminated, and users will not be automatically migrated to C2 OneStorage unless they manually choose to upgrade. These changes underscore Synology's effort to consolidate its cloud ecosystem and provide a more integrated experience for its user base, particularly impacting how object storage is procured and managed within the C2 platform.
