Rotomate raises €2.1M to automate industrial reliability analysis

Rotomate, a Finnish industrial artificial intelligence startup, has announced the successful closure of a €2.1 million pre-seed funding round. The investment was spearheaded by Kvanted, with significant participation from Robin Capital, Angel Invest, and Accel through its scout program. Further support came from Business Finland in the form of an AI development grant, alongside contributions from notable angel investors including Jiri Heinonen and Moaffak Ahmed. Founded in 2024 by Mikko Kuusisto and Dr. Jesse Miettinen, Rotomate is dedicated to developing advanced AI software solutions. These solutions are designed to assist industrial companies in dramatically improving the reliability of their equipment and substantially reducing costly unplanned downtime. The core problem Rotomate aims to solve is the increasing gap between the volume of data generated by industrial sensors and the availability of human experts capable of interpreting this data effectively. Many industrial facilities have invested heavily in sophisticated sensors and condition monitoring systems. However, the bottleneck often lies in the capacity of maintenance teams to process and act upon the deluge of alerts and data. This leads to difficulties in prioritizing critical issues and efficiently managing maintenance schedules. Rotomate's co-founder and CEO, Mikko Kuusisto, highlighted that the constraint on industrial reliability is not a lack of data, but rather the limited ability of experts to continuously analyze and respond to it. The company's platform acts as an AI-powered reliability assistant, continuously analyzing machine and operational data, cross-referencing it with maintenance records and historical context. Instead of merely generating alerts, Rotomate's system provides comprehensive recommendations, root-cause analysis, and suggested actions. This empowers maintenance and reliability teams to make more informed and timely decisions. Dr. Jesse Miettinen, co-founder and CTO, emphasized the company's focus on moving beyond traditional monitoring by offering automated analysis that replicates expert decision-making at scale. The company states that its platform can significantly reduce the time spent on manual monitoring activities, while making expert-level analysis accessible across a larger number of assets within industrial facilities. The newly secured funding will be strategically utilized to accelerate product development and facilitate international expansion. It will also enable Rotomate to grow its engineering, product, and commercial teams, responding to the increasing demand for innovative industrial AI solutions in the market.
