Claude for Legal Unveils Over 90 Specialized AI Agents for Enhanced Workflow

Anthropic has announced a major expansion of its Claude for Legal offering, now featuring over 90 distinct legal AI agents designed to streamline various legal workflows. While the initial focus of Claude for Legal's launch centered on its 12 main plugins and Model Context Protocol (MCP) connectors, the new suite of agents provides a more granular and adaptable approach to legal tasks. These 'named agents' are tailored for specific legal processes, including functions like Vendor Agreement Reviewer, DSAR Responder, Termination Reviewer, and Claim Chart Builder. Each agent is designed to manage an entire workflow, with a single command to initiate its operation. A key advantage highlighted is the ability to customize these agents using natural language, allowing legal professionals to adapt the AI's functionality to their specific needs without requiring extensive engineering expertise. Mark Pike, associate general counsel at Anthropic, emphasized that the latest Opus 4.8 model continues to prioritize helpfulness, harmlessness, and honesty. This is evident in features such as source attribution for citations, established jurisdiction during onboarding, and mandatory review gates before any information is filed or relied upon. The system is built to assist lawyers by making the review process more efficient, not to bypass human oversight. The integration of these agents aims to empower lawyers and legal teams by providing highly customizable tools that can be deployed across various legal environments, from law firms to in-house departments and even law schools.
