Samsung Electronics Brings ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex to Employees

OpenAI has officially revealed a major collaboration with Samsung Electronics, announcing the deployment of ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex throughout Samsung's global operations. This extensive adoption is highlighted as one of the largest enterprise-level implementations of OpenAI's artificial intelligence tools to date, signifying a crucial step in embedding generative AI into Samsung's core business processes. The integration will see ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex utilized by Samsung employees across the globe, specifically within the Device Experience (DX) institutional sector and for domestic employees in South Korea. Samsung Electronics intends to leverage these advanced AI capabilities across a broad spectrum of functions, including research and development (R&D), manufacturing, marketing, and management support. The primary objective is to significantly boost employee productivity and improve problem-solving abilities for both technical and non-technical staff. ChatGPT Enterprise, tailored for corporate environments, offers robust features vital for large organizations. These include advanced data protection mechanisms, comprehensive access rights management, and stringent security controls, ensuring that its usage complies with internal corporate security policies and governance frameworks. This makes it well-suited for handling sensitive company information while assisting with tasks such as information retrieval, data analysis, document creation, data interpretation, and idea generation. Complementing ChatGPT Enterprise, Codex serves as an AI-based work automation platform that extends its utility beyond traditional software development. While it supports standard coding activities like writing, reviewing, and debugging code, Codex also enables non-developer employees to build automation tools, in-house software, and websites directly. OpenAI reports widespread adoption of Codex, with over 5 million people globally using it weekly, and a remarkable 800% increase in weekly active users in Korea since February. This partnership further strengthens the existing relationship between Samsung and OpenAI, evolving from an initial focus on AI infrastructure, such as the supply of advanced memory semiconductors, to a more comprehensive, enterprise-wide application of AI in daily operations. Kim Kyung-hun, head of OpenAI Korea, underscored the importance of Samsung's strategy, noting that the company is embracing AI not merely as a tool for isolated tasks but as a foundational platform for driving innovation across its entire global workforce.
