Hopsworks 5.0 Launches with Coding AI and Data Stack for AI Lakehouse

Hopsworks has officially unveiled Hopsworks 5.0, a major evolution that redefines its platform as an "AI Lakehouse" built around a novel "Coding AI and Data Stack." This release signifies a departure from traditional, fragmented MLOps tooling, introducing a paradigm where AI-powered coding agents play a central role in the development lifecycle. The platform now features an integrated terminal and development containers, providing a unified environment for machine learning engineers and data scientists. Central to Hopsworks 5.0 are the embedded coding agents, which come pre-installed with advanced AI assistants such as Claude Code and Codex. This integration allows developers to describe their desired outcomes in natural language, and the platform's agents then handle the intricate details of writing, running, and iterating on the code. This eliminates the need for constant context switching between different tools and environments, streamlining the process of building and operating complex ML pipelines, data workflows, and AI applications. The system supports parallel agent sessions, enabling concurrent work on various project components. The new version is designed to significantly accelerate the development and operationalization of AI systems, catering to a wide range of applications from batch and real-time processing to sophisticated large language model (LLM)-powered solutions. Beyond its agentic capabilities, Hopsworks 5.0 also boasts enhanced analytical features. It now includes native SQL query support powered by Trino and integrates Apache Superset for comprehensive dashboarding. This allows users to perform exploratory data analysis, create and share interactive dashboards, and export results directly within the platform. Furthermore, the platform has expanded its data integration options, allowing for mounting external tables without data copying and ingesting data via DLTHub on configurable schedules. It also introduces column-level access control, a crucial feature for managing sensitive information within feature groups. Hopsworks 5.0 aims to provide a robust, sovereign AI platform that addresses data sovereignty and regulatory compliance needs, offering a complete lifecycle management solution from data ingestion to real-time and agentic inference.
