Humanoid Robots Enter Mass Market as Prices Decline in China
The humanoid robot market in China is experiencing a significant shift, with manufacturers successfully pushing down prices and facilitating mass market entry. This development marks a new phase of commercial adoption for the sector, driven by advancements in manufacturing processes, the localization of supply chains, and a substantial increase in production volumes.
Leading the charge are companies such as Unitree Robotics, which recently introduced its dual-arm humanoid robot R1 at a starting price of 26,900 yuan (approximately $3,968 USD), making it their most accessible model to date. Similarly, Noetix Robotics has made waves with its Bumi robot, priced at 9,998 yuan, breaking the 10,000-yuan threshold for consumer-oriented humanoid robots. Booster Robotics has also contributed to this trend with its K1 series, starting at 29,900 yuan.
This declining price trend is not limited to consumer models; industrial humanoid robots are also becoming more affordable, with some, like Astribot's T1, now available for as low as 89,900 yuan. This represents a stark contrast to just a few years ago when humanoid robots typically commanded prices several times higher. Industry data from GGII indicates that China's humanoid robot shipments reached 14,400 units in 2025, with projections suggesting output could surpass 100,000 and potentially reach 200,000 units in 2026.
Experts attribute this widespread price reduction to multiple industry and market factors. As shipment volumes expand, companies can distribute high research and development expenses and production-line depreciation costs across a larger number of units, leading to steadily falling unit costs. For instance, Unitree's average selling price for its humanoid robots reportedly dropped from around 593,000 yuan in 2023 to about 167,000 yuan during the first three quarters of 2025. Leju Robotics also saw a nearly 26 percent year-on-year drop in the average selling price of its Kuavo series in 2025.
The convergence of the automotive and robotics sectors is creating new opportunities, with major carmakers like Tesla, Mercedes-Benz, and several Chinese manufacturers actively engaging in the embodied intelligence field through self-development, joint ventures, or incubation programs. This integration is expected to further accelerate the development and adoption of humanoid robotics.
