Nokia and Google Cloud Partner to Embed AI Agents into Autonomous Network Suite
Google Cloud and Nokia have announced an expanded strategic partnership focused on enhancing Nokia's autonomous network product suite through the integration of Google's advanced Gemini AI models. This collaboration will see the development of six specialized AI agents, leveraging the multimodal capabilities of Gemini, Google's most powerful family of AI models. The primary goal is to empower telecommunication providers with tools to significantly lower operational expenditures, expedite the resolution of complex network problems, and ultimately transition towards highly automated, self-driving network infrastructures.
The partnership will initially focus on delivering core functionalities, with the router and event triage agents already fully operational. These agents are designed to analyze complex data streams and apply Gemini's reasoning capabilities to identify and address network anomalies more efficiently than traditional manual processes. The full platform, featuring these AI-powered agents, is slated for a commercial launch as a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) offering on the Google Cloud Marketplace in September 2026. This will allow operators to immediately deploy a certified starter pack of agents to work seamlessly with the Nokia Assurance Center.
Nokia plans a phased rollout for the remaining, more complex agents, which will be delivered through continuous software updates. These updates are scheduled to begin in late 2026 and continue throughout 2027, progressively expanding the capabilities across Nokia's broader network portfolio, including Unified Inventory, Data Suite, and Orchestration applications. Live demonstrations of these autonomous network agents are currently being showcased at the DTW Ignite event in Copenhagen from June 23-25, providing attendees with a firsthand look at use cases such as voice degradation resolution. This partnership underscores a significant step towards the future of telecommunications, where AI-driven automation plays a crucial role in network management and optimization.
