AWS Interconnect Enhances Multicloud Strategy with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Support

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced the general availability of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) support for its AWS Interconnect service. This development allows customers to establish direct, private Layer 3 network connections between their AWS Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs) and OCI environments. AWS Interconnect, which initially launched in April 2026 with Google Cloud support, is designed to provide resilient, scalable, and secure multicloud connectivity without traffic traversing the public internet. Microsoft Azure integration is also planned for later in 2026, indicating a broader strategy by AWS to facilitate seamless inter-cloud communication. This announcement is crucial for organizations that have adopted multicloud strategies, particularly those leveraging specialized services or existing investments in both AWS and OCI. Previously, connecting workloads across different cloud providers often involved complex, custom-built networking solutions that were difficult to manage, scale, and secure. The availability of AWS Interconnect for OCI significantly reduces this operational burden, offering predictable latency and consistent throughput. It empowers architects and engineers to design and deploy more integrated multicloud applications, facilitating use cases such as hybrid data processing, disaster recovery across cloud providers, and distributed microservices architectures.
