AI-powered tools are increasingly capable of delivering personalized learning experiences, offering students immediate feedback, and providing advanced tutoring support, which can be particularly impactful in communities facing teacher shortages and limited resources.
One notable example is the United Kingdom's Oak National Academy, a publicly funded, AI-enabled digital curriculum resource launched in 2020. By 2025, approximately one in three UK teachers, nearly 200,000 nationally, were utilizing Oak's free and adaptable materials, marking a 115% increase in usage over the previous year. Similarly, Khan Academy's AI-powered teaching tool, Khanmigo, has seen its K-12 student usage surge from 40,000 to 700,000 by the 2024-25 academic year, with projections to exceed one million in 2025-26, underscoring the growing adoption and potential of such platforms.
