Microsoft and AIAT Drive "AI Engineering" Initiative to Build Next-Gen Talent for Thailand's New S-Curve

Microsoft Thailand and the Artificial Intelligence Association of Thailand (AIAT) have announced the successful completion of their joint "Microsoft AI Engineering Skills and Hackathon for Employment 2026" program. This comprehensive initiative was specifically designed to equip university students and technology enthusiasts with advanced AI engineering skills, preparing them for the demands of Thailand's rapidly evolving "New S-Curve" industries. The program underscores a strategic commitment to fostering a sustainable pipeline of highly skilled AI professionals crucial for the nation's digital transformation. The program, which ran from February to May 2026, featured a structured four-phase development pathway. It began with foundational digital skills and learning, where participants engaged in online courses on Microsoft Learn and specialized curricula from the AIAT Academy. This initial phase saw significant engagement, with 444 learners successfully completing the coursework and earning certifications. Following this, a competitive mini-hackathon served as a gateway to more advanced training, attracting 433 innovative AI concepts. Key topics covered throughout the program included Advanced Workflow Engineering, AI Agent Development, Vibe Coding, DevOps on Azure for AI Solutions, Medical AI, Advanced Image Processing, and Responsible AI and Security Frameworks. The culmination of the program was a highly competitive final hackathon. Here, 53 finalists, organized into 12 teams, pitched prototype solutions under the overarching theme of "Industrial Digital Transformation." These solutions were built leveraging the robust capabilities of Microsoft Azure, specifically utilizing Azure AI Foundry and Azure Vision. A representative from the winning team, PropViz, highlighted the practical impact of the program, stating that "Microsoft's Azure AI Foundry and Azure Vision allowed us to process building photos and quickly convert them into beautiful, secure 3D models." This experience demonstrated how AI could tackle complex business challenges, providing invaluable knowledge for their future careers. The final challenge not only showcased the participants' ingenuity but also served as a direct pathway to employment opportunities within the New S-Curve industries. All 53 finalists are set to receive exclusive mentorship and career guidance from Microsoft AI experts, offering deeper industry insights and practical application knowledge. Supahrat Juramongkol, AI Skills Director at Microsoft Thailand, emphasized that empowering the next generation with AI engineering skills goes beyond technology, focusing on unlocking human potential. She praised the creativity and drive demonstrated by the young talents in leveraging Microsoft Azure and Azure AI Foundry to develop real-world solutions. This collaborative effort with AIAT is seen as instrumental in producing change-makers who will drive digital transformation and create significant value for businesses across Thailand.
