BlackFog Extends Shadow AI Visibility and Data Loss Prevention to macOS Endpoints

The proliferation of artificial intelligence tools within enterprises has introduced a significant new challenge for cybersecurity teams: "shadow AI." This refers to the use of AI applications by employees without official IT approval or oversight, creating blind spots where sensitive corporate data can be inadvertently or maliciously exfiltrated. While these methods offer some protection, they often fail to capture AI-bound data flows originating from native desktop applications, integrated development environments (IDEs), or local AI agents. This leaves a significant portion of AI activity on endpoints unmonitored and unprotected. BlackFog's ADX Vision for macOS takes a fundamentally different approach. By operating as a native macOS system extension, it gains direct visibility into data flows on the device itself. This allows the platform to intercept and analyze data before it is encrypted or transmitted, regardless of the application, browser, or local agent being used. This on-device protection model, which has previously proven effective against ransomware double extortion, is now applied to the challenge of shadow AI, offering a comprehensive defense against unauthorized data exfiltration. The introduction of ADX Vision for macOS is a crucial step in enabling enterprises to regain control over their data in an increasingly AI-driven work environment, ensuring compliance and mitigating the risks associated with the widespread adoption of AI tools.
