Scality, a leader in data infrastructure software, and OVHcloud, a prominent European cloud provider, have announced an expanded technology partnership resulting in a new joint storage platform. This collaboration is specifically designed to bolster European digital sovereignty by offering a cyber-resilient cloud storage solution, particularly for organizations handling sensitive data and demanding AI workloads. The initiative directly confronts the challenge faced by many enterprises: the desire for cloud agility while needing to maintain strict control over data location and access, especially in light of regulations such as GDPR, DORA, NIS2, and HIPAA. The new platform integrates Scality RING and ARTESCA, which provide massive, resilient, S3-compatible object storage, deployable directly on a customer's on-premises infrastructure. This on-premises layer is complemented by OVHcloud's OPCP (On-Prem Cloud Platform), which adds cloud-native orchestration, a managed services catalog, and deployment automation. A key aspect of this solution is its independence from foreign public cloud providers, ensuring that data remains under European control. Beyond the on-premises deployment, the partnership extends to a dedicated storage offering on OVHcloud's Bare Metal infrastructure through the HGR-STOR range. This allows organizations to implement off-site backups with private S3 compatibility, integrating with leading cyber-resilience tools like Veeam and Commvault. A significant advantage of this setup is the guarantee of 100% dedicated servers, preventing resource sharing and ensuring predictable performance and maximum isolation. This also supports robust business continuity plans by enabling controlled failover to OVHcloud infrastructure in case of primary site outages. The solution offers flexible deployment options, including a fully dedicated sovereign cloud and on-premises deployments via the OVHcloud OPCP, with multi-availability zone backup replication.
