Samsung Electronics Brings ChatGPT and Codex to Employees

Samsung Electronics has announced a major initiative to integrate advanced AI tools, ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex, across its global workforce. This deployment will make these powerful AI capabilities available to all Samsung Electronics employees in Korea and all employees within its Device eXperience (DX) division globally. OpenAI has characterized this as one of its largest enterprise deployments to date, highlighting the scale of Samsung's commitment to AI integration. The primary goal of this widespread adoption is to significantly boost employee productivity and problem-solving capabilities across various functions. Codex, originally designed as a tool for software development, will be instrumental in assisting developers with tasks such as writing, reviewing, and debugging code. However, its utility extends beyond technical roles, enabling non-technical teams to automate workflows and develop internal tools, thereby streamlining operations across the company. Complementing Codex, ChatGPT Enterprise will empower employees to perform a wide array of knowledge-based tasks more efficiently. This includes searching for and analyzing information, drafting documents, developing new ideas, and interpreting complex data. The enterprise version of ChatGPT provides crucial features like enhanced data protection, robust user and access management, and comprehensive security controls, ensuring that Samsung can leverage AI within its stringent security policies and governance frameworks. This expanded partnership deepens the existing collaboration between Samsung Electronics and OpenAI. Previously, Samsung has been a key supplier of advanced memory semiconductors essential for OpenAI's next-generation AI infrastructure. The current deployment signifies a shift, broadening the relationship from purely infrastructure to encompass workforce transformation and company-wide AI adoption, demonstrating a holistic approach to integrating AI into daily operations. The move also comes amidst a notable surge in Codex adoption, with OpenAI reporting over 5 million weekly users for technical and non-technical workflows. Specifically, weekly active Codex users in Korea have seen an almost 800% increase since February 1, 2026, underscoring the growing demand for AI-assisted productivity tools in the region. This strategic rollout by Samsung is expected to further accelerate the integration of AI into enterprise environments globally.
