Lokotech to Commercialize Edge AI ASIC Technology via New Joint Venture

Lokotech Group AS, a company specializing in hardware and software development, particularly within blockchain and low-energy microchips for AI, has taken a significant step towards expanding its presence in the artificial intelligence market. The company recently signed a non-binding letter of intent (LOI) with undisclosed US and Canadian firms to establish a new joint venture (JV). The primary objective of this collaboration is to commercialize Lokotech's proprietary Edge AI ASIC (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit) technology. The planned structure of the joint venture involves Lokotech selling portions of its wholly-owned subsidiary, Arctic AI AS, to the American and Canadian partners. This will combine the strengths of all parties to further develop, mature, and bring to market Lokotech's AI Edge inferencing solutions. While the JV will operate out of Norway, it is anticipated to have employees, contractors, and contributors spread across the globe, fostering a diverse and distributed development environment. This strategic partnership is poised to tap into the burgeoning AI inference market, which includes a strong emphasis on edge AI accelerators. The initiative also targets emerging agentic AI workloads, characterized by their demand for persistent, low-latency, and highly efficient computing capabilities directly at the edge. Industry projections indicate that the addressable market for AI inference is expected to surpass $250 billion by 2030, with edge AI and next-generation agentic AI identified as some of the fastest-growing segments within this expansive market. Lokotech's focus on energy-efficient microchips, initially developed for blockchain applications, positions its ASIC technology well for the demands of edge AI, where power consumption and computational efficiency are critical.
