Nokia and Google Cloud Partner to Embed Gemini AI Agents in Autonomous Networks
Nokia and Google Cloud are deepening their collaboration, focusing on the integration of Google's advanced Gemini AI models directly into Nokia's network software suite, specifically the Nokia Assurance Center. This strategic partnership is set to revolutionize how telecommunication providers manage their networks by introducing a suite of specialized AI agents. The core objective is to empower telecom operators to transition from manual troubleshooting to a more autonomous and efficient operational model.
The partnership will see the development of six distinct AI agents, all built using Gemini, Google's highly capable multimodal models. These agents are designed to tackle the growing challenges posed by the vast and complex data generated by modern networks. Traditional, manual approaches to network management often struggle to keep pace with escalating alerts, leading to costly downtime and operational inefficiencies. The Gemini-powered agents will instantly process raw data, enabling providers to accurately identify critical infrastructure issues and differentiate them from mere background noise.
Each of the six agents is tailored to manage specific operational tasks, capable of working independently or collaboratively to resolve complex network problems. For instance, a Router agent will act as a central orchestration layer, interpreting user intent and managing communication among other agents while ensuring operational guardrails are maintained. An Event Triage agent will analyze alarms against historical patterns to pinpoint root causes, while a KPI Selector agent will provide expert interpretation of complex network performance metrics. An Anomaly Reasoner agent will investigate unusual network behavior to determine genuine issues from false alarms, and an Action Reasoner agent will recommend specific remediation steps by matching active events against automation catalogs. Finally, a Dashboard agent will allow teams to generate visual analytics and tracking screens using natural language prompts.
Nokia developed these capabilities utilizing Google Cloud's Agent Development Kit (ADK) on the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform. This framework facilitated the rapid creation of smart conversational and routing paths that leverage Gemini's multimodal reasoning. The ultimate goal is to enable telecommunication providers to move beyond manual operations, maximizing performance, ensuring reliability, and uncovering new efficiencies within their data, thereby moving closer to a future of programmable, AI-native networks operating at machine speed.
