XLSMART and Tencent Cloud Successfully Complete Large-Scale AI-Driven Cloud Transformation Project

XLSMART, a prominent Indonesian telecommunications operator formed from the merger of XL Axiata and Smartfren in April 2025, has announced the successful completion of a significant public cloud migration project in partnership with Tencent Cloud. This large-scale transformation, which spanned four and a half months, represents a major step in XLSMART's digital modernization strategy and sets a new benchmark for AI-enhanced cloud migration in the industry. The project encompassed the seamless transition of a vast digital infrastructure, including 1,200 microservices, 1,100 APIs, and 900 business interfaces. Crucially, over 15 terabytes of core data assets were securely migrated, ensuring business continuity and data integrity throughout the process. Tencent Cloud played a pivotal role as the strategic cloud technology partner, providing a comprehensive suite of services and products tailored to XLSMART's specific needs. A key innovation in this migration was the extensive application of artificial intelligence. Tencent Cloud developed over 20 cloud migration 'Skills' powered by its proprietary AI tools, CodeBuddy (a coding agent) and WorkBuddy (an AI agent workspace). These AI capabilities significantly boosted the migration team's overall efficiency, from initial resource discovery to the final cutover. The integration of AI not only accelerated the transformation but also ensured a more streamlined and intelligent approach to managing the complexities of a large-scale cloud shift. Beyond the core migration, Tencent Cloud delivered more than 20 essential products to XLSMART, including databases, container services, and security solutions. The team also undertook over 200 feature developments to ensure full adaptation to the overseas technology ecosystem and local cloud usage habits. This comprehensive support, coupled with the introduction of mature capabilities like Database Claw for enhanced database operations, underscores the depth of the partnership. Yessie D.
