Anthropic Launches Claude Tag in Slack, Enhancing Enterprise AI Collaboration
Anthropic has rolled out a significant update to its enterprise offerings with the launch of "Claude Tag," an artificial intelligence agent seamlessly integrated into Salesforce's Slack application. This new feature is designed to revolutionize how teams collaborate by embedding Claude directly into group chats, allowing it to function as a persistent and proactive virtual team member.
Users can now interact with Claude by simply typing "@Claude" within any Slack thread. Once tagged, the AI agent can analyze ongoing conversations, assist in breaking down complex tasks into manageable steps, and automatically highlight important updates or information relevant to the discussion. A key differentiator of Claude Tag is its ability to retain context over time, ensuring that the AI's contributions are always informed by previous interactions within the channel.
Currently, Claude Tag is available in beta for Anthropic's Claude Enterprise and Claude Team customers, with the company planning to extend its availability to additional platforms in the near future. This strategic move underscores Anthropic's aggressive push into the competitive enterprise AI market, where demand for sophisticated AI tools is rapidly growing. The company's valuation has reportedly surged to $965 billion, surpassing that of OpenAI, partly due to strong business adoption of its AI solutions.
Rob Seaman, General Manager of Slack, emphasized the collaborative nature of this integration, stating that Claude Tag makes "AI multiplayer." Unlike traditional private chatbot interactions, Claude Tag operates openly within shared channels, allowing all team members to see and benefit from its contributions. Cat Wu, Anthropic's head of product for Claude Code, highlighted the power of being able to tag the AI agent just like a human coworker. She provided an example where her Claude Tag, with access to Gmail, flags important emails and posts summaries to Slack, improving her responsiveness.
Anthropic also assures that administrators will have robust control over the data and tools Claude Tag can access within each channel, addressing potential concerns about data privacy and governance. This focus on integrated, context-aware, and controllable AI agents marks a significant step in making AI a more integral and effective part of daily business operations and team workflows.
