Nokia and Google Cloud Partner to Embed Gemini AI Agents in Autonomous Network Suite

The expanded partnership between Nokia and Google Cloud focuses on embedding Google's advanced Gemini AI models into Nokia's network software suite, specifically the Nokia Assurance Center. This strategic collaboration is set to revolutionize telecom operations by introducing six specialized AI agents. These agents, built using Google's multimodal Gemini models, are engineered to enhance Nokia's capacity to help telecommunication providers achieve significant operational efficiencies. The primary goals include lowering operational costs, rapidly resolving network issues, and progressing towards fully automated, self-driving network operations. Modern telecom networks generate vast and complex datasets, often leading to bottlenecks due to traditional manual troubleshooting methods that struggle to keep pace with an increasing volume of alerts and can result in costly downtime. The new partnership directly addresses these challenges by enabling the AI agents to instantly process raw data. This capability allows telecom providers to effectively distinguish critical infrastructure issues from background noise, thereby accelerating repair times and safeguarding revenue streams. Nokia is set to introduce a suite of six specialized agents, each designed for specific operational tasks. These agents can function independently or collaborate to resolve complex network problems. Examples include a Router agent for central orchestration, an Event Triage agent for analyzing alarms and identifying root causes, a KPI Selector agent for interpreting network performance metrics, an Anomaly Reasoner agent for investigating unusual network behavior, an Action Reasoner agent for recommending remediation steps, and a Dashboard agent for generating visual analytics. The development of these capabilities utilized Google Cloud's Agent Development Kit (ADK) on the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform. This framework facilitated Nokia in quickly developing intelligent conversational and routing paths that leverage Gemini's multimodal reasoning. The entire multi-agent framework is designed to run seamlessly on standard Google Cloud compute and storage, eliminating the need for complex managed services. An initial starter pack of certified agents, including the Router and Event Triage agents which are already fully functional, will be available when the platform officially launches as a SaaS model on the Google Cloud Marketplace in September 2026. Nokia plans to deliver the remaining, more complex agents through rolling software updates, expanding capabilities across its broader network portfolio—including Unified Inventory, Data Suite, and Orchestration applications—starting in late 2026 and continuing throughout 2027. Live demonstrations of these autonomous network agents are scheduled for DTW Ignite in Copenhagen from June 23-25, showcasing use cases such as live voice degradation and multi-partner fiber-break automation.
