Red Hat Ansible Orchestrator Bridges Event-Driven Logic and Deterministic Automation

Red Hat has announced the general availability of Automation Orchestrator as an official add-on for Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform 2.7. The new capability introduces a composable workflow canvas designed to weave together existing automation libraries, job templates, event-driven triggers, and AI agent recommendations into structured, multi-system IT operations pipelines. Built to handle complex non-linear execution paths, the orchestrator adds native logic nodes—including conditional branching, switch routing, looping, and convergence mechanisms—directly into the visual workflow designer without altering underlying playbook code or dismantling established governance models. As organizations expand automation footprints beyond simple server provisioning and routine configuration management, workflows inevitably grow non-linear. Operations teams often struggle to connect asynchronous alerts, third-party system events, human approval checkpoints, and heuristic recommendations from emerging AI agents into reliable execution flows. Automation Orchestrator addresses this friction by treating production-ready job templates, collections, and roles as composable nodes. Teams running or planning an upgrade to Ansible Automation Platform 2.7 should inventory their multi-step workflow templates and identify candidates for simplification, especially incident remediation and patch deployment sequences that currently rely on external glue code.
